Partnerships

Jays Care Foundation is the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Team. Established in 1992, its mission is to use baseball to teach life skills and create lasting social change for children and youth in marginalized communities across Canada. The foundation focuses on initiatives related to physical activity, education, and life-skill development, aiming to empower young people to reach their full potential. Jays Care Foundation supports various programs, including the Field of Dreams program, which refurbishes baseball diamonds and provides equipment to communities in need, as well as programs promoting education and leadership development.

Jays Care Foundation approached Koolway Sports to collaborate and produce KoolKoats for their special needs athletes as a gift at year end to say thanks for being a Challenger Athlete for the year. Our partnership has been running now for 4 years to support individuals with disabilities across Canada and being a Canadian Company fits with the Jay’s criteria.

Over the four years, The Jays Care Foundation and Koolway Sport, have partnered to provide custom warm outerwear for the Jays Care All-Star Challenger Baseball Athletes across Canada. Through this partnership, both organizations have helped promote inclusivity and accessibility in sports and recreational activities, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can participate fully and enjoyably in the community all year round and in all our 4 seasons.

We would like to say “thank you” to The Jays Care Foundation, it’s been a Grand Slam Home Run for all the many families across Canada.

Koolway Sports has some Kool News to share…..we reached out the Team Hoyt for awareness and we are pleased to say we are a sponsor at this years’ Memorial Race, it’s a 5 mile run to honour the distance of Dick & Rick’s first race together.

Here’s the background if you don’t already know Team Hoyt….

Dick and Rick Hoyt are an inspirational father-and-son duo known for their participation in endurance events, particularly marathons and triathlons. Dick Hoyt pushed, pulled, and towed his son Rick, who has cerebral palsy, in various races for over three decades.

Their journey began in 1977 when Rick expressed a desire to participate in a charity run for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed. Despite Rick’s physical limitations, Dick agreed to push Rick’s wheelchair through the race, and from there, their partnership flourished. They went on to compete in numerous marathons, Ironman triathlons, and other challenging races, becoming an iconic symbol of determination, love, and inclusion.

Their story has inspired countless people around the world, highlighting the power of unconditional love, perseverance, and the human spirit. They’ve shown that with dedication and support, individuals can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and achieve incredible feats.

Live Life the Koolway Team Hoyt!

AdaptAbility Store Inc.

AdaptAbility was started by the mother of a child with ASD and other special needs, after going through the frustrating process of trying to find him clothing, toys, daily living and educational aids.

She noticed there weren’t any stores to go and see, touch, and try these products to get an idea for fit and actual need. Her experience raising a special needs child, with her supportive Husband, has given her the skills and experience required to help people with special needs and other life challenges and their Caregivers to find the best products available.

Tara’s experience working with Family Services for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and other public healthcare services to find supports and resources for her son’s special needs is an asset in helping other families navigate the world of funding and supports that are available. She has a passion for helping people and is dedicated to making sure every need is met.

AdaptAbility’s mission is to be a trusted resource for providing the very best special needs products and information to our customers. Educating parents and teachers in early intervention tools, aids, resources and other technologies will continue to be one of our main goals along with being a good neighbour to our community.

Koolway Sports has been their business partner even before she opened the store front and all our products are on display so you can go in a as they sat “Touch, Feel and See” why your loved one using mobility needs to de dressed in Koolway Sports Outerwear to enable them to achieve their maximum level of independence in all weather conditions….each of Tara’s clients receives our custom fitting to ensure years of longevity and sustainability.

Koolway Sports is honoured to have had a number of CP families across Canada follow the steps to file for a very special CP Smile Project Grant including the required short 60 Second Video. The successful families told us it was a fun family project and the end result was enough funding for their Winter KoolKoat and Sensory Blankets System…..Congrats to CP Canada for all the great work you do for so many special families.

Why we created the CP Smile Project

Kids with cerebral palsy are just like all other kids – they want to play, explore and have fun with friends. Playing is how children learn to interact with their environment, develop physical skills and strength, expand their imagination and build friendships.

Play is not a luxury for kids – it is their “work”.
It is indeed the essence of childhood.

The importance of play in a child’s life can’t be over-emphasized. We know that to participate and have fun, children with cerebral palsy often need specialized equipment or other support to facilitate their participation. Unfortunately, there is little financial support provided to children with cerebral palsy to create recreational opportunities and support their ability to engage in play. That’s why we have created the CP Smile Project – to support kids with cerebral palsy to have fun and enjoy just being a kid.

The CP Smile Project is a community project.

By spreading the message of the importance of play and recreational activities for children living with cerebral palsy, our community will generate funding to provide bursaries to children living with cerebral palsy to support their ability to engage in play and have fun.
